Triangular self-tapping screw design standard

  一. The main terms and technical parameters of TAP TITE

  1 Nominal diameter: the recognized diameter of screw design, production, inspection, etc.

  2. Pitch or number of teeth: the distance between the crests of two adjacent teeth or the number of teeth per inch.

  3.Circular diameter: the maximum average outer diameter measured by the screw.

  4. Triangle diameter: The average distance from the tip of the screw triangle to the opposite arc.

 6. Nominal length: the recognized length for screw design, production, inspection, etc.

  7. Breaking torque: The minimum torque required for the screw to reach the twisted or twisted state.

   8. Tension resistance: The minimum tensile force required for the screw to produce plastic deformation or fracture in the axial direction.

  9. Surface hardness: the average hardness measured on the flat part of the screw surface head.

  10. Hardness at the core: the average hardness measured at a position about 1/2 radius from the center of the screw section.

  11. Carburized hardened layer depth: the thickness of the hardened layer of the screw after surface carburization.

   2. Features of TAP TITE:

  1. Triangular self-tapping screws are ideal thread forming screws to improve the reliability of screw locking operations and reduce costs. Because the threads are triangular, the apex of the triangle is plastically processed when the bottom hole is tapped. Complete the lock payment operation.

  2. In the screw locking operation, the cost of the screw is only about 15%, while the tapping, other supporting parts and the locking operation account for about 85%, so from the elimination of the tapping, the reduction of operating torque, and the prevention of screw loosening In consideration of improving the reliability of screw locking and reducing costs, triangular self-tapping screws should be preferred.

  3. Compared with metric machine screws, triangular self-tapping screws have the advantages of no need for pre-tapping of the bottom hole, strong anti-loosening force without the use of anti-loosening washers, and good strength with smaller diameter screws.

  4. Compared with general self-tapping screws, triangular self-tapping screws have the advantages of small locking torque, greater locking force, greater retention force, good anti-loosening effect, no chipping powder, and less heat generation.
