The crush strength of the gasket, the greater the gasket stress, the less leakage. However, if the stress is too large, the gasket will be crushed, or it will be broken during compression. Therefore, in the whole process of testing the compression gasket, there will always be the ultimate load that will collapse, that is, the compression strength of the gasket. The crush strength is also related to the working temperature and the thickness of the gasket. (Guide: Solid Rivet White Punch Riveting Technology)
For example, the crushing strength of a 1.5mm thick asbestos rubber sheet at room temperature is 110Mpa, while that of a 3mm thick asbestos rubber sheet is only 60Mpa; the same gasket has a crushing strength of 72Mpa and 38Mpa at 300°C. The compressive strength of gaskets of different construction materials and forms is naturally different. For example, the rubber-bonded non-asbestos fiber (aramid fiber) board under the same thickness and temperature as the above, the compressive strength at 300 ℃ is only 45Mpa (1.5 mm) and 30Mpa (3mm). The compressive strength measured at temperature is also called the thermal compressive strength.
