Comparison of stamping parts, castings and forgings

Stamping and forging belong to plastic processing (or pressure processing), collectively referred to as forging. Stamping blanks are mainly hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel plates and strips. 60 to 70% of the world's steel is plate, most of which are made into finished products by stamping. Automobile bodies, chassis, fuel tanks, radiators, drums, container shells, motor core silicon steel sheets, and electrical appliances are all stamped and processed. There are also stamping parts in products such as instruments and meters, household appliances, office machinery, and living appliances. Compared with castings and forgings, stampings are thin, uniform, light and strong. Stamping can produce stamped parts with ribs, ribs, corrugations or flanges that are difficult to manufacture by other methods to improve their rigidity. Due to the use of precision molds, the accuracy of the workpiece can reach micron level, high repeatability, consistent specifications, and holes and bosses can be punched out. Cold stamping parts are generally no longer cut, or only a small amount of cutting is required. The accuracy and surface condition of hot stamping parts are lower than cold stamping parts, but still better than castings and forgings, with less cutting. Stamping is an efficient production method. Using compound dies, especially multi-station progressive dies, multiple stamping processes can be completed on one press to realize automatic production from strip uncoiling, leveling, blanking to forming and finishing. The production efficiency is high, the production cost is low, and hundreds of pieces can be produced per minute.
