Five mechanical characteristics of connector terminals

As a bridge between electronic parts, connector terminals have an important function of conduction (reliable contact) and minimum contact impedance. Therefore, some main parameters of connector terminals have specifications, which are described below: 1.1 Connector terminal insertion Force and pull-out force generally refer to the coordination of a single terminal, which is a pair of contradictions. The connector requires a minimum insertion force and a maximum extraction force. 1.2 Connector terminal combination and pull-out force refer to the overall matching insertion force and pull-out force of the connector. 1.3 The retention force of the connector terminal refers to the axial force that the terminal can withstand after mating with the HSG, and the retention force is sufficient to prevent the terminal from exiting the plastic body (pin removal) or poor contact. 1.4 The positive force of the connector terminal is also called the normal force, that is, the normal force of the terminal perpendicular to the contact surface of the terminal after the connector is inserted. The positive force ensures the reliability of the contact between the male and female terminals, which is an important parameter considered for terminal design and material selection. 1.5 The holding force of the terminal refers to the vertical and horizontal pulling force that the connector terminal can withstand. This test is generally performed according to customer requirements.
