The performance of metal stamping parts of a material refers to the adaptability of the material to various stamping processing methods. The main factors affecting the stamping performance of materials are as follows.

(1) Plasticity of materials. In the stamping process, when the deformation exceeds the forming limit of the material, it will cause cracking. The allowable forming limit range of the material with good plasticity is large. Therefore, the material is required to have good plasticity and stability of plastic deformation. This can reduce the number of processes and the production of waste and defective products due to poor materials. The increase of carbon, silicon, and sulfur content in steel will reduce the plasticity of the material and increase the brittleness, and the carbon content has the greatest impact on the plasticity of the material.

(2) The material's ability to resist pressure instability and wrinkle. When the material is mainly subjected to compressive stress during the stamping process, such as the drawing, necking, and convex curve flanging of straight-walled parts, the main compression deformation and the increase in thickness are prone to instability and wrinkles. Therefore, the material is required to have good resistance to pressure instability and wrinkle.

(3) The surface quality of the material. The material should have good surface quality, that is, the surface of the material should be smooth, smooth and rust-free. During the stamping process, the cracks, pits, scratches, scars, bubbles and other defects on the surface of the material will cause stress concentration and cause rupture. The uneven surface of the material will affect the positioning accuracy during cutting and punching, resulting in waste or damage to the punch.
