Hardware knowledge: the connection method of valve and pipeline

Whether the selection of the connection method between the valve and the pipeline or equipment is correct or not will directly affect the probability of running, emitting, dripping and leaking of the pipeline valve.

Common valve connection methods include: flange connection, butt connection, butt welding connection, threaded connection, ferrule connection, clamp connection, self-sealing connection and other connection forms.

1. Flange connection:

There are flanges at both ends of the valve body, which correspond to the flanges on the pipeline, and are installed in the pipeline through bolted flanges. Flange connection is the most commonly used connection form in valves. Flanges are divided into raised surface (RF), flat surface (FF), convex and concave surface (MF), etc. According to the shape of the joint surface, it can be divided into the following types:

1. Smooth type: used for valves with low pressure, which is more convenient for processing.

2. Concave-convex type: high working pressure, medium hard washer can be used.

3. Tongue and groove type: gaskets with greater plastic deformation can be used, which are widely used in corrosive media and have a better sealing effect.

4. Trapezoidal groove type: oval metal ring is used as a washer, used for valves with working pressure ≥64 kg/cm², or high temperature valves.

5. Lens type: The washer is a lens shape and is made of metal. Used for high-pressure valves with working pressure ≥100 kg/cm², or high-temperature valves.

6. O-ring type: This is a relatively new form of flange connection. It is developed with the appearance of various rubber O-rings. It is more reliable than ordinary flat gaskets in sealing effect. .

2. Wafer connection

The valve is installed between two flanges. The valve body usually has positioning holes to facilitate installation and positioning. The valve and the two pipes are directly clamped together with bolts.

Welding connection

1. Butt welding connection: Both ends of the valve body are processed into butt welding grooves according to the requirements of butt welding welding, corresponding to the pipe welding grooves, and fixed on the pipe by welding.

2. Socket welding connection: Both ends of the valve body are processed according to the socket welding requirements, and the pipe is connected by socket welding.
