After the stretched parts have been subjected to severe forming and processing, they have been left unused, and longitudinal cracks tend to occur due to residual stress. However, an austenitic stainless steel plate with a large nickel content, that is, a material above SUS304, will not produce natural ageing cracks even if it is subjected to severe cracking press processing. In addition, the use of copper alloy plates such as brass, which have been left after intensive forming and processing, tend to produce longitudinal cracks. The reason is related to the residual stress and some surrounding atmosphere.
After continuous experimentation by our technicians, it is proposed that the most important thing is to minimize the residual stress. Annealing treatment immediately after forming can prevent cracks. In order to minimize residual stress, the following points must be paid attention to during operation:
1. Make the corner radius of the die as small as possible.
2. When using multiple stretching to increase the stretching depth, leave the flange part as much as possible.
3. When designing the stretching process, avoid unreasonable processes.
4. The binder ring of stretched parts should be frequently ground to increase the binder force and prevent wrinkles.
The above is a detailed introduction to solve the natural aging cracking of tensile parts. I hope it will be helpful to your future work. (Guide: Production requirements for stretched parts)
