What role does the heat treatment of metal stamping parts play? [Hardware] Mould heat treatment is to give full play to the potential of mould materials and improve performance. The performance of the metal stamping die must meet: high strength, (including high temperature strength, resistance to cold and heat fatigue), high hardness (wear resistance) and high toughness, and also requires good machinability, (including good Polishability) weldability and corrosion resistance, etc. Mold heat treatment is an important process to ensure mold performance, and it has a direct impact on mold manufacturing accuracy, plastic mold strength, mold working life, mold manufacturing cost, and so on. For the complicated molds of metal stamping parts, the correctness of the processing technology often has a greater impact on the deformation of the mold. The comparison of some mold heating processes can clearly show that the heating speed is faster, and the greater deformation is often generated. (1) The reason for the deformation of metal stamping parts. Any metal will expand when heated. When the steel is heated, the uneven temperature of each part in the same mold (that is, the uneven heating) will inevitably cause the temperature of each part in the mold. The inconsistency of expansion, resulting in internal stress due to uneven heating. At the temperature below the transformation point of steel, uneven heating mainly produces thermal stress. If the heating exceeds the transformation temperature, uneven heating will also produce unequal timing of the transformation of the structure, which will result in structural stress. Therefore, the faster the heating rate, the greater the temperature difference between the mold surface and the core, the greater the stress, and the greater the deformation of the mold after heat treatment. (2) Preventive measures for metal stamping molds When heating complex molds below the phase transition point, they should be heated slowly. Generally speaking, the deformation of mold vacuum heat treatment is much smaller than that of salt bath furnace heating and quenching. Preheating is used. For low-alloy steel molds, one preheating can be used, and for high-alloy steel molds, two preheating should be used. Need to know more, welcome to consult:
