Rebar concept and commonly used classification

Rebar is ribbed steel bar, divided into hot-rolled ribbed steel bar and cold-rolled ribbed steel bar. Rebar is also called deformed steel bar or special-shaped steel bar. The difference between it and the smooth steel bar is that the surface has longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs, usually with two longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs evenly distributed along the length. There are two commonly used classification methods for rebar: one is to classify by geometric shape, and to classify or subtype according to the cross-sectional shape of the cross-rib and the spacing of the ribs. For example, in the British Standard (BS4449), the rebar is divided into Type I and Type II. This classification mainly reflects the grip performance of rebar. The second is the performance classification (level). For example, in the Chinese standard (GB1499), the rebar is divided into 3 grades according to the strength level (yield point/tensile strength); in the Japanese Industrial Standard (JISG3112), the thread is divided according to the comprehensive performance Steel is divided into 5 categories; the British Standard (BS4461) also stipulates several grades of performance tests for rebar. In addition, rebar can be classified according to its purpose, such as ordinary steel bars for reinforced concrete and heat-treated steel bars for prestressed reinforced concrete.
