Compared with other mechanical processing, mold processing has certain particularities. These particularities are mainly:
1. Most molds need to be processed on solid metal modules with complex shapes of spatial surfaces. As the molds continue to grow in size, the weight of the modules will become larger and larger, and some have reached dozens of tons;
2. The shape of most molds is cuboid or cube, and there are few narrow and long shapes, and the main processing volume is concentrated on the concave mold and the convex mold;
3. As the requirements for mold products become more and more precise and complex, the requirements for mold processing accuracy are getting higher and higher. Now the processing accuracy of many molds has reached ±1~2μm, and it will soon develop to less than ± 1μm;
4. As users' requirements for mold production cycles become shorter and shorter, mold processing must meet the requirements of high efficiency, speed, flexibility and long-term full-load non-stop operation. (Guide: How to make metal molds)
According to the above 4 particularities, the following basic requirements are put forward for mold processing equipment:
1. The machine tool must have good rigidity and a large load-bearing capacity compatible with the weight of the module;
2. The size of the working table should be compatible with the shape of the mold, it is suitable for rectangle, square and round, not long and narrow, but the height direction and stroke require a large space;
3. Must have high precision and precision retention;
4. It must be able to remove the margin quickly and efficiently, and have high reliability, in order to maintain continuous and long-term full-load operation;
5. In order to adapt to the processing of complex spatial curved surfaces, and there is a large amount of processing, the machine tool is required to be capable of multi-axis linkage and equipped with a CNC system with large information capacity.
