The difference between stamping compound die and progressive die

Compound mold: refers to a mold structure in which the press completes multiple processes such as blanking and punching in one stroke.  Features: 1. The workpiece has good coaxiality, straight surface and high dimensional accuracy; 2. High production efficiency, and is not limited by the accuracy of the strip shape and size. Sometimes scrap corners can also be used for reproduction.  Because some of the advantages of the composite mold itself are obvious, mold companies generally tend to choose the composite mold structure when conditions permit.   Disadvantages: It is difficult to process and manufacture mold parts, and the cost is high, and the convex and concave molds are easily limited by the minimum wall thickness, which makes some lower parts with small inner hole spacing and inner hole and edge spacing not suitable for use.   Progressive die: It is composed of multiple stations, each station is connected in order to complete different processing, and a series of different stamping processing is completed in one stroke of the press. After a stroke is completed, the punch feeder moves the material forward in a fixed step, so that multiple processes can be completed on a pair of molds, generally including punching, blanking, bending, trimming, and stretching and so on. Features: 1. The progressive die is a multi-task sequential punching die. In one die, it can include multiple processes such as punching, bending and stretching, and has high productivity; 2. The progressive die is safe to operate; 3. Easy to automate; 4. High-speed punching machine can be used for production; 5. The punching machine, site area can be reduced, and the transportation of semi-finished products and warehouse occupation can be reduced.   Disadvantages: Parts with extremely high size requirements are not suitable for production using progressive molds.
