The reasons for the locking of stainless steel fasteners are generally:
1) The tooth pattern is rough or there is foreign matter sticking. If there are solder joints and other metal shavings caught between the teeth, it will often lead to lockup;
2) Too much force or too fast locking speed, use torque wrench or socket wrench as much as possible, avoid using adjustable wrench or electric wrench. Because the electric wrench often causes the locking speed to be too fast, the temperature rises rapidly and locks up.
3) The direction of force is wrong. The nut must be screwed perpendicular to the axis of the screw, do not tilt;
4) Washers are not used. The use of washers can effectively prevent the problem of over-locking. (Guide: Introduction to the use, model and material of fishtail bolts)
To prevent the locking of stainless steel fasteners, the following methods are usually used:
1) Slow down the speed of locking. Generally speaking, slowing down the speed of locking can greatly reduce the chance of locking, because heat often occurs when locking, and when the heat increases, the chance of locking will increase;
2) Butter, molybdenum disulfide, graphite, mica or talcum powder can be used to lubricate the internal and external tooth lines to reduce the occurrence of locking;
3) Coating is also an effective lubrication method. The nut after the deduction process will be like an extra layer of lubricating film between the nut and the screw.
