Rivets are parts that use their own deformation or interference to connect the riveted parts during riveting. There are many types of rivets, and they are informal. Commonly used are round head, flat head, countersunk head rivet, blind rivet, hollow rivet, which are usually connected by their own deformation to be riveted. (Generally, cold riveting is used for those smaller than 8 mm, and hot riveting is used for larger ones.) But there are exceptions. For example, the nameplate on the three-ring lock is riveted by the interference between the rivet and the hole of the lock body. In addition, there are paired rivets, which are quite special. It is divided into two parts. The thicker section with a cap has a hole in the center, and the other section with a cap is an interference fit. When riveting, the thin rod can be driven into the thick rod. (Guide: Selection of bolts in mechanical design)
Half-round head rivets are mainly used for riveting occasions with larger lateral loads, and are the most widely used. Flat cone-head rivets are corrosion resistant due to their fat heads. They are often used in riveting occasions with strong corrosion such as ship hulls and boiler water tanks. Countersunk head and 1200 countersunk head rivets are mainly used for riveting occasions where the surface must be smooth and the load is not large. Semi countersunk head and 1200 semi countersunk head rivets are mainly used for riveting occasions where the surface must be smooth and the load is not large. Flat head and oval head rivets are mainly used for riveting occasions of metal sheets or non-metallic materials such as leather, canvas, and wood. Large flat head rivets are mainly used for riveting non-metallic materials. Semi-tubular rivets are mainly used for riveting occasions with low load. Headless rivets are mainly used for riveting applications of non-metallic materials. Hollow rivets are light in weight and weak in nail heads. They are used for riveting non-metallic materials with low load. Tubular rivets are used for riveting non-metallic materials without load. Sign rivets are mainly used for riveting nameplates on machines and equipment. Blind rivets are a type of rivets used for single-sided riveting, but a special tool must be used to pull the riveting gun (manual, electric, manual) for riveting. This type of rivet is especially suitable for riveting occasions where it is inconvenient to use ordinary rivets (riveting from both sides), so it is widely used in construction, automobiles, ships, airplanes, machines, electrical appliances, furniture and other products. Among them, the open-type oblate head blind rivets are the most widely used. The countersunk head blind rivets are suitable for riveting occasions that require smooth performance, and the closed-type blind rivets are suitable for riveting occasions that require higher loads and have a certain sealing performance. Core rivets are another type of single-sided riveting rivets. When riveting, tap the head of the rivet with a hand hammer to expose the mandrel so that it is flush with the end of the head of the nail. The riveting operation is completed, which is very convenient and especially suitable for inconveniences. Riveting occasions using ordinary rivets (riveting from both sides) or blind rivets (lack of riveting gun). Usually use oblate head punching riveting, countersunk head punching rivets are suitable for occasions where smooth riveting is required on the surface.
