What is the difference between a bolt and a stud?

The most obvious first is the difference in appearance

1. Hardware bolts often refer to headed and larger ones, such as hexagonal bolts, etc.;

2, the screws are multi-pointed and small, such as hexagon socket screws, pan head / flat head / large flat head / round head machine screws, etc.;

3. The stud should have no head and cannot be rotated with tools.

4. Common point: all are threaded fasteners.

The difference in usage

Bolts: mechanical parts, cylindrical threaded fasteners with nuts. A type of fastener consisting of a head and a screw (cylinder with an external thread), which needs to be matched with a nut to fasten and connect two parts with through holes. This type of connection is called bolt connection. If the nut is unscrewed from the bolt, the two parts can be separated, so the bolt connection is a detachable connection.

Classified use (Guide: What are the benefits of cold forging? Fastener cold forging forming process analysis)

1. bmu003d1d double-ended studs are generally used for the connection between two steel connected parts; bmu003d1.25d and bmu003d1.5d double-ended studs are generally used for cast iron connected parts and steel The connection between the connected parts; bmu003d2d double-ended studs are generally used for the connection between the connected parts made of aluminum alloy and the connected parts made of steel. The former connecting piece is provided with an internal threaded hole, and the latter connecting piece is provided with a through hole.

2. Both ends of the equal-length double-ended stud must be matched with nuts and washers for two connected parts with through holes.

One end of the welded stud is welded to the surface of the connected part, and the other end (threaded end) passes through the connected part with a through hole, and then put on the washer and screw on the nut to connect the two connected parts into one piece overall.

Stud: There is no head, only a type of fastener with threads on both ends. When connecting, one end of it must be screwed into a part with an internal threaded hole, and the other end must pass through a part with a through hole, and then a nut is screwed on to make the two parts tightly connected into a whole. This type of connection is called a stud connection, which is also a detachable connection. It is mainly used where one of the connected parts has a large thickness, requires a compact structure, or is not suitable for bolt connection due to frequent disassembly.
