The selection principle of cutting fluid in the machining process There are many types of cutting fluid, and its composition and properties are also very complicated. For each cutting fluid, it has multiple functions such as cooling and lubrication, but the effect is mainly and secondary, so When selecting cutting fluid, it should be comprehensively considered according to the cutting conditions and the requirements of the machining quality, and a certain one or several expected functions should be the mainstay, and the targeted selection should be made. (1) Choosing cutting fluid according to the processing material In order to improve the processing quality of the workpiece to be cut and prolong the life of the tool, the cutting fluid should be selected mainly from the cooling and lubrication effects. 1) The selection of cutting fluid when processing general materials. For medium and low-speed cutting, you should choose a cutting fluid with good lubricating properties, such as cutting oil, water-based cutting fluid or emulsion; for high-speed cutting, you should choose a cutting fluid with better cooling performance, such as low-concentration cutting fluids. Water-based cutting fluid or emulsion. 2) The choice of cutting fluid when machining difficult-to-cut materials. The materials that are difficult to cut have high requirements for the lubrication and cooling performance of the cutting fluid during the machining process, and it is advisable to choose the extreme pressure cutting fluid containing extreme pressure additives. 3) Selection of cutting fluid when processing plastic and brittle materials. When cutting plastic materials, use cutting fluids with good lubricity; when cutting brittle materials, use kerosene or water-based cutting fluids with good permeability and cleaning properties. (2) Selection of cutting fluid according to the tool material 1) Selection of cutting fluid when cutting high-speed steel tools. If the cutting allowance is large, water-based cutting fluid or emulsion should be used: If the cutting allowance is small, it is advisable to use cutting oil with better lubrication performance and high-concentration water-based cutting fluid or emulsion. 2) The selection of cutting fluid when cutting hard alloy, diamond and ceramic tools. For machining with these tools, if the surface roughness requirements are not high, cutting fluid is generally not used; if it must be used, low-concentration water-based cutting fluid or emulsion can be used, but it should be continuously and adequately supplied without interruption to avoid tool generation Thermal stress causes cracks and chipping. (3) Cutting fluid drilling, reaming, tapping, broaching and other processing methods should be selected according to processing characteristics. Emulsion, extreme pressure cutting oil or extreme pressure emulsion should be selected; when gear processing, it is required to ensure the shape and dimensional accuracy. The extreme pressure cutting oil or high concentration extreme pressure cutting fluid with good lubricity should also be selected; during grinding, the temperature of the processing area is very high, and the grinding debris may damage the surface of the workpiece. The cutting fluid is required to have good cooling, cleaning, For chip removal performance, general emulsion or water-based cutting fluid is generally used.
