Zinc alloy die-casting die steel and its selection

The melting point of zinc alloy is 400 to 430°C. The surface temperature of the zinc alloy die-casting mold will not exceed 400°C. Due to the low working temperature, in addition to the commonly used mold steel, alloy structural steel can also be used to make molds, and even low-carbon steel can be used. After medium temperature solid carbonitriding, quenching, and low temperature tempering, the use effect is also very good. The materials commonly used in the manufacture of zinc alloy die-casting molds are: alloy structural steel, such as 40Cr, 30CrMnSi, 40CrMo, etc.; mold steel 5CrNi.Mo, 5CrMnMo, 4Cr5MoSiV, 4Cr5M0SiV1, 3Cr2W8V, CrWMn, etc.

Zinc alloy die-casting die life: alloy structural steel can reach 200,000 to 300,000 die times, and die steel can reach 1 million die times. The level of foreign zinc alloy die-casting molds is basically 300 to 500,000 mold times, and some have reached 1 million mold times.
